Love Letters

Imagine that your husband, or wife….a. beloved now living a long distance from you. He or she has no internet connection available to them. (Ok, this might be a “stretch” of the imagination, but…bear with me.)
Now, because they cannot tell you when they will return home to you, because of contractual agreements with their company, or perhaps are on an extended assignment with the armed forces….your only form of communication is by hand-written letter. A slow process. Painfully slow, especially in these times of immediate “face time” and Skype and messaging services.
But…take it a step further.
There is a knock at the door. Suddenly, you are face to face with the one from whom you’ve been separated for so long….you run to each other, embracing, overwhelmed by the fact that you are together again.
Conversation follows, as the exultation subsides….you begin to speak about your lives while apart.
He or she asks you about the many letters written and sent to you. Were you able to understand them? Were you able to grasp the emotion, the longing to be with you…the anticipation of that coming together once again…?
And you say…”oh, I have been SO busy! There they are, in that basket on the shelf…I didn’t even get a chance to open them. You know…the kids’ sports, the housework, the job, shopping….I was just SO tired each evening that I fell asleep without reading them!”
Can you imagine the look on that face now in front of you? The disappointment? The diminished look of joy? The eyes unable to hide the overwhelming sense of betrayal that you have just shown?
And this…done to one you say you LOVE…one who you say…is alway on your mind….one who you say…you will never forsake.
After contemplating this scene; let us fast-forward to the next big event in the life of a true believer in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. As the Resurrected One.
The call has gone out. The Rapture at hand. The command to “Come up here” is heard and obeyed, as that phalanx of angels is dispatched to accompany us to our new home in the heavenly place.
You finally get to look upon His face.
And He asks you (although He already knows the answer…)
“Have you read the letters I sent to you? My love letters, the words set down by my scribes…especially for you, sent to your address…letters that told you of my eternal love for you? Those letters that I even had bound together so none would be lost….in a book…called the Bible?”
What will you answer?
Will it be…”oh, I was just SO busy. I had them on the shelf, and really meant to read them, but time just got away from me. You know how it is….”
Imagine the sorrow in His eyes….that you chose to read…say, the daily newspaper….a well written book….your email…..Facebook… the news/shows on TV….but did not read the words so carefully worded and carried through the past centuries so that you would know of His love and His plan for you.
How will He feel? How will you feel?
Those busy days are forever behind you, as is the chance to sit down and open those letters; gone forever the opportunity to show Him that you cared enough to spend your time with Him, reading His Words…divine messages from the God that you said you adored.
Words are cheap when spoken by one who is providing “lip service” for the world to see…but in truth…is not motivated to reach out and even open the envelope containing those letters. To open the Book.
It is not too late. But time, as we know it…is moving quickly. Don’t place yourself in the terrible position of disappointing our Master Correspondent above. Your actions…my actions…speak louder than our earthly words can ever speak.
Grab that book of letters….from Him to you…while you still can. Open them. Revel in them. They are not just “words” after all…they are LIVING words…words of action. Meant to glorify Him, and to enhance those of us who are a part of his living body.
When He asks you about them….at His Mercy Seat….how wonderful to be able to say…”yes, my Lord…I read them. And in reading them, learned about You. They told me how to live my life for You; my life became Your Life, as you taught me how to come closer to you…” (Of course, that depends on whether you can even speak at all….given the “Company” in which you find yourself!)
Imagine the look in His eyes …will you hear Him say: “well done, faithful servant!?!”
There is a song that is popular now…..”I can only imagine”…which speaks of how we will react when face to face with our Creator.
Will we dance for Him? In exultation? Will we be on our faces…unable to even look at Him? Will we break out in song…as we adore him….as we confess that His letters…sustained us while we walked upon the earth…giving us the hope of His coming…that His scriptures were our only source of solace; of understanding; of comfort while waiting for Him to come for us? While waiting for our Blessed Hope?
This is my prayer for all of us who are in His Body.
That we use our time diligently. Allowing His love for us to permeate us, through the power of the Holy Spirit within …through the absorption of His Word…that Word; sent to us, preserved for us and written to us by His scribes, in anticipation of our opening them with joyful anticipation, barely able to await the next opportunity for reading, the next revelation…the whole time becoming more like Him..per His instruction…which He specifically sent to us by way of the Apostle Paul. In…the letters. The…Epistles.
Love letters. Coded love letters! Encrypted love letters! Understood…only by those who belong to Him…through the translation services of the Spirit’s power in us.

Maranatha …

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Romans 13:11

The Temple

The Temple

Have you ever read, in the Old Testament….about the building of the Temple, the structure, size, materials to be used, right down to the doorways and number of steps? How God Himself created those plans and gave them to His people in order that the temple…His place on earth in those times; the place where His chosen people could come together and worship Him…was built exactly to His specifications and design?
The Lord deigned that it would house the “Holy of Holies” where, once a year, a designated priest would approach the altar, bringing with him the blood of sacrificed animals which he sprinkled upon the Mercy Seat in order to atone for the sins of all Israel…and ask for God’s forgiveness for those sins.
Now, apply those words, that description, to the temple of today. The Temple of this age. There are no more “temples” built of wood, or stone, or brick, that our God recognizes as a place of worship.
Instead, we who believe; we, who are His currently carry out our daily lives while walking around in His temple. Our bodies.
Our fleshy, mortal body has an invited Entity living in us….God Himself, in the identity of the Holy Ghost.
He resides in OUR Holy of Holies. In us. Through His Power!
We walk around, every day, every moment with a member of the Divine residing in us.
Does it show? Do we shine with the glory from within?
Now, since we have this Distinguished Tenant living in our very being, how do we “protect” Him from the onslaught of the evil that surrounds us?
Think of the parts of our body that allow the external world into our internal selves…for one, (or two) the eyes.
What do we look at? At all that is lovely? Or… do we allow our eyes rest, if only for a brief moment…on, say…the pages of a book that is less than “kosher.” On a TV show that heralds deviant sexual behavior? Do our eyes fixate on, for instance, games that thus invade our minds and run the risk of becoming an obsession? What about sports? Are they elevated to a position that perhaps surpasses our devotion to Jesus Christ?
How often we think that just briefly “looking” has not opened a gate into our soul, which gains access for other evils to enter into us.
We, who are commanded to become more Christ like as we travel our road in life, have invited another guest, a contaminated guest, into the space occupied by the God who saved us. What if this is a block in the road, a hindrance to the plan of the Holy Spirit as He is afflicted by our poor choice? (Somehow, I picture Him stepping back and erecting a wall between the leaven and Himself, because He cannot dwell with sin. His dwelling place is becoming dirty, and He had just cleaned it out!)
But it is not only the eyes that can open the floodgates to wandering off the path…the ears might be listening to music that is almost tribal in its rhythm…hypnotic in its repeated verses…mesmerizing in repetitive and driving beat. A unity begins.. That drum beat reacts with our own hearts. Our fleshy heart starts a dance with the drummer…picking up speed when he does…moving in synchronization with every strike on the drum head. We are now in synch with the rhythms of the world. Look around you. Watch the others who are listening to the same music. The scene is one of bodies that are moving in an ecstasy out of control. Our minds roam far from where they should be focused, venturing into realms prohibited to those who are of Christ.
The again, we might be listening to a preacher who preaches a different gospel One different from that which is taught by Paul, who is our Apostle.

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

The examples can run on and on. We have 5 senses. All of these are potential gateways to our inner being. Think of the “ports” on a computer. If they are not properly guarded, a hacker can gain access to the data in that computer, and use it or twist it to his own benefit; causing havoc and chaos for you who unknowingly allowed the chaos to occur.
Just as you have, or should have, an anti-virus program on that PC, in order to protect it from the evil doers who want to destroy that machine…so you should guard the “entry” spots that exist in your flesh.
Our “anti-deviance, anti-heretical, anti-virus protector is the Holy Spirit. His up-dates…lie in us reading and absorbing the scriptures at every possible moment. Keeps Him current…keeps us current with Him. If we are current…we are in fellowship. Our links are viable. Our hardware and software are cleaned up and operating correctly. Our eyes must look to the source of support for Him…to the bible itself…we can use our ears for the same, with an audio bible…we can flood our senses with HIM and thus keep the world at bay. Our hands are used to turn the pages…our nose to “smell out” the bad stuff trying to gain access…our minds…embrace the words put before us…and so, we “eat” the word for our sustenance…which, in turn maintains and vitalizes the structure…which is our body…which is His Temple.
It must be kept clean. And He will do this for us, if we but allow Him.
Should we antagonize Him by allowing the world into what now belongs to Him? A body that was purchased at terrible price?
For, even though we are His, He still allows us free choice. There is always s a moment of decision on our part…a moment when we can continue to walk straight ahead with Him, or take a side stroll off of the straight path.
He lets us know when a “virus” is trying to enter us…those moments of doubt, those nudges…perhaps a word spoken by a passing stranger…perhaps a word spoken by a believing preacher…maybe even a dream whose memory is etched in our minds as we awaken…which tells us that we are about to commit error.
The devil is the master virus writer of all times. He is an expert, but…we have within us the Master Anti-Virus. Is His program…turned on? Have we recently performed a total scan (examining motives, truthfully seeing the reasons behind our actions, acknowledging our participation in these faults and then sitting down with the Lord and telling Him about them…)???
Try and picture this. You are the host/hostess of a magnificent banquet. The table is set, the seating arrangements aligned, and right next to your guest of Honor you place another whom you have invited, a person well known for his enmity toward your Honoree.
The banquet becomes a disaster. Your guest of honor has been…dis-honored. The heavenly guest’s well known preferences totally disregarded …to your possible eternal shame, if not rectified. (Rectified…by taking responsibility for the ignorance displayed…and then telling our Father all about our latest error. Even though He knows. He must hear us put it into words, in submission to Him.)
The Power of the Holy Spirit that indwells us can only work with the Word that we take into ourselves. From the food that we ingest. The food.. of the Word. AS the Apostle John was told to “eat the book” (in the book of Revelation) so are we. It provides the ammunition needed for the spiritual warfare that surrounds us every moment. The stockpile must be ever replenished.
It is our nourishment as well as our Temple Occupier’s, along with a library for Him to draw from when He gives us the words that might encourage another, the words that will feed a fellow in Christ, the words that are needed when we are under siege by the arrows of the enemy. He can only draw upon what we have taken in and digested.
Our Sentry is on duty. He is our Protector, and is stronger than those who oppose us. Yet…He draws on the ammunition and the sustenance that we bring into ourselves through our devotion to His Word. To our passion for His truth. He is our….”firewall” ….
And our firewall must be compatible with every program that we “allow” into His Temple.
For…we are not our own, anymore.
Our choices should reflect this change in position, this new thing…that our mortal bodies have become a chosen vessel. A Holy vessel. A walking living container that holds…the third member of the Triune God. All three are one. God is within us.
When you next look into the mirror…reflect on this, as your reflection…mirrors back at you.
What do you see?

2 Corinthians 6:16-18
16- and what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17- Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,
18- And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

The New Man

“Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace”
Ephesians 2:15

****Where before, there were Jews and Gentiles upon the earth….there is now a third group. The “New Man.” The New Creature. Which is made up of believing Jews and Gentiles.*****

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul tells us that “old things have passed away” for those who are in Christ…that ALL things “are become new.” (The Apostle Paul is the minister of Christ to the Gentiles, “ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.”)   Romans 15:16

“For He that wrought effectively in Peter to the apostle ship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles.”     Galatians 2:8

“Wherein to I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.”     1 Timothy 2:7

And so, Paul tells us that there are now three races on this earth…the Jews who do not believe, the Gentiles who do not believe, and the New Man…which is made up of believing Jews and Gentiles.
This New Man, this New Creature; is a living, breathing, growing and invisible body of believers joined together by their faith in The Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God…this faith bestowed through grace, that Christ is the only begotten son of God, born to fulfill the prophets, dying for us and for our sins…yet living still, having been resurrected by His Father, our God.
He sits at God’s right hand, even now, as you read these words.
To be part of the body of believers; the body of Christ, of which He is the Head…we have accepted the free gift of grace offered in this, the age of grace. The age of the “church.”
A free gift. No strings. The Lord Jesus Christ paid the price with His blood.
We need do no more to become part of  Him than to believe on His name, and that He lives.

Please read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
Our gospel is in these verses.

Have you ever been told that you need to “repent” and be saved?
You have been told a lie.
There is NOTHING we must do prior to coming to God.
Just believe! What can be simpler? Why is it made so complicated?
God Himself cleans us up. After we believe. The Holy Ghost takes up residence in us, and begins the process…for, it is a process. It happens in stages.
Even as we grow in Him…we make mistakes, for our reborn selves still reside in our Adamic, sinful bodies. And since the Spirit is omnipresent, pointing out our slippages, we confess to God…even thought he already knows of our failure…it is and was already forgiven, but we become closer to Him, when we talk to Him about our weaknesses. In humility.
Our fellowship grows. We are following His plan. We are on the path of becoming a “friend of God!”
If you choose to first try and “repent” (which was preached in a previous dispensation) you are using your own human strength in God’s realm, and thus committed to failure.
Why are you straining to obtain what is freely offered?
There is grave danger here.
For, when you labor to receive what God Himself says is free…you are being prideful and denying that His word is true. You have placed yourself under the law. Law, and grace…do not mix. If following the law, there is no grace, and…you are none of His! Think about it. Pray upon it. Search the scriptures yourself.
God does not like mixtures.

“Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shall not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind; thou shall not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and wool come upon thee.”    Leviticus 19:19

Again…if you choose to labor in your fleshy strength…there is no salvation for you, for…grace is no more.
Read the Old Testament with this in mind; see how Israel was unable to follow the law. It is impossible. If one commandment is broken, even though all others were followed, it is as if all were broken. The law, the commandments ….were sent to point out our sins.
Grace is offered, freely for us, at ultimate cost for our Lord…to give us salvation and forgiveness of those sins brought to our attention by the commandments.
And so…trusting in man’s interpretation of the gospel is mis-placed….and your eternity…in question.
(Now, it must be said…that after you become a child of God, you WILL perform works, as directed by the in-dwelling Holy Ghost, who steers you in the direction of the spiritual gifts given you the moment you believed. These gifts….there might be one, might be more…are not necessarily based upon your past achievements or talents. Their use…is meant first of all…to glorify God. Next…to work with our fellows in The body of Christ, as we grow and mesh and work together. “By your fruits you are known.” People are watching you. Angels are watching you. God is not only watching you, but is living in you, for your body, our bodies…are His temple on earth in this age.)
Have you been told to give one tenth of your earnings in order to receive salvation? In order to obtain more wealth? In order to be forgiven?
Once again, this is a lie. Read the scriptures.
Yes, we need to give to others. God loves a cheerful giver. The amount is decided between you and The Lord.
Tithing was for the tribes of Israel, and very specific to the needs as set forth by our God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. In that long ago time.

Do you perform good deeds in order to be worthy of God’s favor? Do you know that there is nothing you can do for God…but worship Him, and follow His plan for you?
You  were saved for a reason. You were created for a reason. Man was created…to worship God. Read Genesis.
Good deeds are fine. But they are “as filthy rags” when done outside of His plan for you.

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”  Isaiah 64:6

Nothing we do in our own strength is deemed worthy of recognition from God Almighty.
When God looks down on us, He sees His Son. He sees a saint. A saint who has been sanctified by His Son’s very blood. “Jane or John Doe” has disappeared.
These teachings, that do not agree with those written in the Epistles of Paul…are from a false gospel,  and will lead you right along with that teacher…straight into Hell.
It is written, that whoever teaches a gospel OTHER than that taught by to be accursed. Very clearly written. And written twice, for emphasis.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed!” Galations 1:8,9

Are we supposed to just skip over these portions of His Word?
The Word is truth. Even if you do not understand it right now.
God alone gave us the scriptures…written with the hands of his chosen ones, through the inspiration of the Holy Ghost.
The bible is His manual for our daily lives. His letters to us. His correspondence to us.
He commands that we read it with discernment…knowing to whom each section is written, and directing us to rely on the Spirit’s teaching as each new layer of understanding is opened to our understanding.
Our apostle is Paul. Only he was told of the mystery…only he was directed to go to the Gentiles…only he received the revelation of our Blessed Hope….that we soon will be called up, and will forever be with The Lord into all eternity.
Our faith is in the unseen. Thus…the word “faith.”
Please do not follow man’s interpretation of these wonderful words of truth.
Be Bereans. Search the scriptures diligently. Allow the Spirit to do His job. He will take you to the scriptures that answer your questions. He will open your eyes.
He will show you how we are to walk today. The basics are all set out for us, in Paul’s Epistles.
All of the bible is for our edification and knowledge, which should be growing every day. Read it with discernment.

“Rightly dividing the word of God.”  2 Timothy 2:15

Keep your eyes and heart focused on The Lord. Let Him lead.
Earthly wisdom will soon fail, as it is written. Godly wisdom is ours, if we embrace the power that was given us the moment of our belief.
Use our powerful Touchstone. Worship Him. Believe with all your heart and soul His promises.
Always…love Him first…then, love your brethren as yourself.
In these two commands, are all the commandments satisfied!
Those in Christ are chosen, and apart from the world.
God has a plan for you, else you would not have been saved. His word does not return to Him, void.
Live for Him. Alone. Everything else will fall into it’s proper place.
The time is growing short.
Maranatha….my friend in Christ.

Remember the words of Paul to Timothy…in 1 Timothy 1:13, 14
“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love, which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost who dwelleth in us.”

We will soon meet, face to face…in the coming Rapture; our Blessed Hope.
