As we walk in this life, the scriptures remind us constantly that we are immersed in a battle …but it is not a physical fight. Ours is unseen…it is a battle over the control of our minds…when our focus, our thoughts, are not upon The Lord …Satan steps in to place our concentration on something of his own choosing…be it sports, attire, hobbies; anything that can take our attention away from The One whom we are indebted to think upon…after we became His.
Speaking from personal experience, lately there is much information floating about in the news concerning ISON…with accompanying conjecture re: the outcome of any direct hit on this earth…and where it fits in prophecy. I have watched videos, and read articles…and as a result of those actions…was not reading the bible, but reading ABOUT the bible…the result? Growth in Him came to a standstill. Joy became diminished. The peace of God…was being interfered with. My mind became attuned to seeking information concerning this possible upcoming calamity…which meant I was not attuned to studying about The Lord …and so was not allowing the Holy Spirit to do His job.
Now, we all have different positions in the Body of Christ. Some have a talent for looking at current events and applying scripture to them, in order to place things in perspective. And we should know what is happening around us…but not when it excludes knowing what the living Word is trying to tell us at any given time. I am writing only of my experiences here…for we are told to support each other in these end days…and I know that others are going through these same thought processes…ie: yes, there is a problem.. but God will see us through it. Not…there is a problem…what can we do about it?
Today, I opened the book, and the verse in front of me was Philippians 4: 8,9.
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”
His word…directed me back to restoring the peace of mind that had been diminished…that peace which no human understanding can explain.
And so, hope that this can in some small way help a brethren who might be experiencing the same onslaught from the adversary.
Right thinking. Once peace is restored…His Word becomes discernible…and our growth in Him…once more on track.
